Original Instructions: Indigenous Teachings For A Sustainable Future
Edited by Melissa Nelson
This treasure trove illuminates the indigenous wisdom and knowledge contained in the “original instructions” for how to live on Earth and with each other. Contributors include Chief Oren Lyons, the late John Mohawk, Winona LaDuke and John Trudell. Proceeds from the book go to support indigenous programming at the Bioneers Conference and other indigenous programs.
Tribal leaders, educators, activists and elders have expressed great appreciation for the book, which is being used by many educational institutions.
“Buckminster Fuller once complained that the earth had come without a good operating manual. In fact, though, there are an awful lot of instructions that have stood the test of time. Since we’re clearly making a mess of things at the moment, it might be wise to pay some attention.” Bill McKibben, author, Eaarth, The End of Nature, Co-Founder 350.org
